52 years of Intercultural Mediation
With the objective of avoiding such devastating conflicts in the future as were the two World Wars, what is now known as the European Union was founded 50 years ago. Then, in 1957, Jean Monnet said: “Much time is still to pass before the United States of Europe will be realized. Therefore it is essential in the present transition period that the determination of the people of Europe to unite is persistently proclaimed, repeatedly confirmed, increasingly pursued, and thus takes shape little by little and step by step.”
